2022 Liloan InternsLiloan, Cebu, USC BSND Intern Jed L. Tudayan - The University of San Carlos Public Health Nutrition practicum students participated Operation Timbang (OPT) Plus in different puroks in Barangay Poblacion, Liloan, Cebu. The activity was spearheaded by the rural health midwife, barangay nutrition scholars (BNSs), and other members of the barangay nutrition committee, and, with support from the barangay captain. The students were allowed to join the nutrition assessment to develop their skills in weighing and height taking.

Operation Timbang Plus is an annual weighing and height measurement of all preschool children 0-59 months old and children 60-71 months old who are not yet in school and done in communities to locate the malnourished (wasted, stunted, underweight, or overweight) children in different barangays. Data generated through OPT Plus are used for local nutrition planning particularly in quantifying the number of malnourished and identifying who will be given priority interventions in the community. All children in these age groups are weighed and measured annually in their respective puroks or at the barangay hall.
