MELLPI orientationExcitement and enthusiasm was seen to the members of the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) as they gathered together for a Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) Orientation conducted on 9 March 2018 at the PopCom Conference Room, PopCom Compound, Government Center, Candahug, Palo, Leyte.

The MELLPI which is conducted annually is geared towards (1) assessing the efficiency of local level plan implementation, (2) measuring the changes of the nutritional status among children, (3) determining the extent of local development plans and programs integration, and (4) advocating for the continuing support for the local nutrition program.

Items included during the RNET discussion are (1) MELLPI Guidelines; (2) Monitoring and Evaluation for the Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (OBNS); (3) Guidepost in the Conduct of MELLPI; (4) Review of the different MELLPI forms; and (5) Practical demonstration to selected barangays in Palo, Leyte.

 

As a result of the orientation, the RNET scheduled to visit all six (6) provinces, seven (7) cities and selected municipalities across the region. Monitoring and evaluation of OBNS was also highlighted in the orientation and a continues conduct of coaching and mentoring will be provided. Moreover, the members agreed to have common flow of activities, to include; courtesy call and pre-conference, MELLPI proper, and post conference.

In 2017 MELLPI, the RNET was able to identify four (4) green banner qualifiers: Caibiran in Biliran, Tarangnan in Samar, Allen in Northern Samar and Sulat in Eastern Samar. The number of qualifiers are expected to increase and more local government units are perceived to participate on this activity.

The orientation and practical demonstration was facilitated in by NNC VIII Staff together with Ms. Felecita Borata of DOH VIII, who at the same time Chairperson of the RNET. The nineteen (19) individuals who attended in the orientation commit to devout time and expertise in the monitoring and evaluation activities. This year’s MELLPI is expected to be facilitative and a learning and experience sharing avenue to a more productive monitoring and evaluation process. (NASL)
