summer tipsSummer is an exciting time of the year. Most of us are into planning of going to beaches, pools, tourist spots, and anywhere else that is “summer-worthy”. From kids to adults, we have our own reason to be hyped up: be it the places we want to go to and food we are craving to try.

Staying healthy this summer wherever you go is important. It’s not just about achieving that summer body! It’s making sure that when you come back from your trip, you’d still be in the condition to plan another one!

There are many ways to stay well during these days:

  1. Eat foods rich in vitamin C. Being exposed to the sun, saltwater and chlorine can make your skin dry. To avoid dry and damaged skin, eat foods rich in vitamin C and protein (in the form of lean meat, beans and nuts.), this will help heal your weathered skin.
  2. Stay hydrated. Being under the sun for long hours can cause dehydration. To prevent this, make sure to drink at least 10 glasses of water each day.
  3. Eat foods rich in calcium. Calcium in the body is lost when sweating. You can replace it by eating low-fat dairy products like skim milk and yogurt.
  4. Avoid staying more than 3 hours under the sun. Staying under the sun this long predisposes you to heat exhaustion, sunburn, and worst – heat stroke.
  5. Frequent handwashing. In any activity you may have, always keep in mind to wash or disinfect your hands especially when handling food. Frequent handwashing can also prevent various kinds of communicable diseases like sore eyes. (AMOS)
