1TACLOBAN CITY - 51 years old Rosita Sanches Acsibar of Brgy. Pansaan, Maasin City in Southern Leyte is one of the six contenders for the 2018 Search for the National Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholars (NOBNS) whose12 years of community nutrition services have elevated the nutrition of the community.

BNS Acsibar was validated by the National Evaluation Team (NET) headed by Ms. Ellen Ruth F. Abella of the National Nutrition Council - Central Office and Ms. Azucena Banga from a private sector. The validation process utilizes enhanced version of the assessment tool - Monitoring and Evaluation on Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) Pro for Barangay Nutrition Scholar. The 2-day evaluation was focused on documentation review, interview and practical exams or skills validation.

Prior to the actual conduct of the validation, the NET had its courtesy call with the Maasin City Mayor National V. Mercado and subsequently with its dynamic City Nutrition Committee members. The NET was warmly welcomed by the CNC with the assurance of a strong support in the implementation of the programs and projects based on the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2017-2022 Framework.

The successful conduct of the validation was recognized through the active participation of the Barangay Nutrition Committee, good and proper documentation of nutrition program and activities and efforts extended by the Barangay Nutrition Committee (BNC) in reducing the malnutrition of the barangay and the full support of the City Nutrition Office and the local government unit of Maasin City.

BNS Rosita is included among the top 6 outstanding BNSs out of the 12 entries across the country, joining in the rank of upper 50% outstanding BNSs are from Regions 1, 5, 10, 11, and 12. ###
