The Regional Nutrition Committee and the entire nutrition networks of Eastern Visayas welcomes its new member Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Officer-in-Charge Ms. Erna Sy Gorne.

Ms. Gorne has been serving as Information Center Manager of PIA Southern Leyte for about 30 years before her current designation as OIC-RD of the same agency.

Ms. Gorne is also a very active member of the Southern Leyte Provincial Nutrition Committee. Her contribution to good nutrition is commendable being one of the active member of the Harmonized Initiative of Media in the Spread of Good Nutrition 8 (HIMSOG 8 ) HIMSOG 8 is the media arm of the National Nutrition Council 8 (NNC8) composed of public and private media practitioners in the region.

She was also a member of the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) tasked to monitor and evaluate nutrition program implementation of the various Local Government Units in the region.

The RNC, NNC 8 and its networks on the other hand gladly thanked outgoing PIA RD Ms Erlinda Olivia P. Tiu. Ms. Olive as she is fondly called made more prominence with her TV and radio program dubbed “Suruswerte Ha PIA”. The program tackles various issues at hand particularly in the government sector including special events in government.

Recently, Ms. Tiu interviewed Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, Dr Catalino P. Dotollo, Jr on the regional nutrition situation and the 2021 Nutrition Month Campaign Strategy. She then called LCEs to invest in nutrition to curb the worsening malnutrition situation in the region particularly stunting.

Moreover, Ms Tiu if not busy of her routine work and her very popular TV and radio program sees to it to personally attend RNC meetings.

The RNC extended its appreciation to RD Olive for her laudable services not only to Eastern Visayas but to the entire country having been assigned in PIA Central Office. On the other hand, the RNC welcomes the new OIC RD Erna to the Regional Nutrition Committee. #CPDotollo
