ECCDF1K RS July9Catbalogan City- Pursuant to Section 6 of the Republic Act 11037 or otherwise known as the Masustansyang Pagkain Para sa Batang Pilipino Act mandates NNC as the agency focal point for the multi-agency Early Childhood Care and Development in the First 1000 Days (ECCDF1K) and the National Nutrition Information System.

The ECCD F1K Reporting System (RS) is a tracking tool to process real time accomplishments on ECCD F1K program. The RA aims to harmonize all reporting system within the health sector and including other services accessed by mothers in the first 1000 days.

The Reporting System contains eight modules. Its key features and capabilities are centralized web-based system (no installation needed); mobile device responsive; supports offline encoding in excel for later uploading; short message service (SMS) notifications for beneficiaries next scheduled visit; and report generation.

As part of the full implementation of ECCD F1KD program and the harmonized RS, there is a need to train pool of trainers to roll it out in the region.

The initiative of Samar Provincial Nutrition Office was done in close coordination with NNC 8 and development partners such as UNICEF, KOICA, World Vision and Zuellig Family Foundation, a training of trainers (TOT) was conducted with selected Samar province municipalities.

Participants were MNAOs, Public Health Nurses, FHSIS Coordinators, PPDO staff and Provincial Nutrition staff. Around 18 personnel attended the TOT including 2 NNC 8 regional staff.

PNAO Cynthia Montejo Palileo, UNICEF Samar Account Officer and former Cebu Provincial F1KD Coordinator Mr. Retz Pol O. Pacalioga and RNPC Dr. Catalino P. Dotollo, Jr. acted as resource speakers and facilitators. It was also ably assisted by ZFF Mr. Alvin Acidre and World Vision staff.

RS was conceptualized in close coordination with the DOH FHSIS and that it is a user friendly. Participants crafted action plans and encouraged to include in their LNAPs and AIPs for 2022 in terms of logistical and human resource requirements.

With the Mandanas-Garcia ruling to be implemented next year, the team is hopeful that it might be funded with strong advocacy from the Governor and the Provincial Nutrition Committee. #CPDotollo
