Tacloban City- On Thursday, the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) visited and validated two of the provincial contenders for the Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (ROBNS) in the Province of Samar.
BNS Elvira E. Roluma, 51 serving the community of Barangay Danao I is the contender of Calbayog City, Samar. She started her passion as a Community Health Team volunteer way back 2013 and eventually designated as the barangay nutrition scholar after the one assigned as BNS got a post as a local councilor in their barangay.
Likewise, the RNET visited BNS Lanie D. Ancheta of Barangay Cabunga-an, Tarangnan as the contender for the Province of Samar. BNS Ancheta is the Vice President of the Municipal Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholars and the treasurer of the Tarangnan Volunteer Workers Association.
Both contenders displayed very satisfactory performance based on the programs, projects and activities conducted in the past four years 2020, 2019, 2018 and 2017 as reflected in their respective documents and portfolios.
Included in the process of the validation, the RNET administered the examination and interviewed the two contenders.
The Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) Pro for the local nutrition focal persons assesses the performance of the frontline nutrition focal along with her core functions in the delivery of nutrition services in her locality.
With the new evaluation tool, the RNET determined the performance of the ROBNS contenders based on management dimensions as to; (1) coordination; (2) advocacy and promotion; (3) planning; (4) implementation; (5) monitoring and evaluation; (6) resource generation; and (6) documentation and record keeping.
Joining the RNET are Mr. Antonio Pueblos and Ms. Cecilia Tibo both from the Harmonized Initiatives of Media for the Spread of Good Nutrition in Region 8 (HIMSoG-8) with NNC8 RNPC, Dr. Catalino P. Dotollo, Jr. and NOIII Nino Archie S. Labordo.
The MELLPI Pro is a monitoring and evaluation mechanism for the implementation of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition at the local level which covers the local government units and the local nutrition focal points. #NASLabordo
