DAR TKOrientation AugustTACLOBAN City—The newly assigned Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) VIII Regional Director, Atty. Robert Anthony P. Yu welcomed the Tutok Kainan (TK) partnership program with the National Nutrition Council 8 as showed during a brief orientation on 18 August 2021 at the DAR8 Office, Tacloban City.

Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, Dr. Catalino P. Dotollo, Jr. together with NOIII Dr. Nino Archie S. Labordo visited the newly assigned DAR Director in the region and oriented on the dietary supplementation program (DSP) Tutok Kainan for 6-23 months old children.

Dr. Dotollo shared the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation program goal, objectives, and strategies to the good DAR8 Director and technical staff.

Primarily, the aim of the program is to contribute to the prevention of stunting among children 0 to 23 months old by improving the quality and quantity of food and nutrient intakes and utilization of related Early Childhood Care and Development in the First 1,000 Days (ECCD F1KD) services among nutritionally at-risk pregnant women and children 6-23 months old in the target Tutok Kainan program areas, discussed by Dr. Dotollo.

Further, the visit provided an opportunity to discuss the scheme and strategies to link the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) with its concerned provinces for possible partnership in terms of market for the farmer’s products and services.

Though another meeting is set with the DAR provincial coordinators, RD Yu is happy and positive for this development partnership with NNC.

With this strategy, NNC will be able to promote the economic empowerment of ARBOs, through sustainable partnership as a direct buyer of ARBOs farm products and services.

The area coverage of Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program in the region are the provinces of Leyte, Samar, Eastern Samar, and Northern Samar with 54 local government units as target areas. # NASLabordo
