Hilongos town in Leyte, a pilot municipality of NNC’s Early Childhood Care and Development for the First 1000 Days (ECCD-F1KD) project attends workshop on 2022 Updating of Municipal Nutrition Action Planning (MNAP) and integrating it to the Annual Investment Program for the same year.

It was attended by the MNC Core Planning team of the municipality. This will be the last planning for the MNAP 2020-2022 since next year will be election year both local and national positions.

Close to Php 200 million are placed in the AIP 2022. Of the said budget, almost Php 26 million will be funded locally and about Php 175 million will be sourced from provincial, regional and national funds. Of the Php 26 million, Php 22 million is a counter part to the Philippine Rural. 

Development Project (PRDP) which are mostly provision of safe water, a nutrition sensitive WASH intervention. A million was allocated for Dietary Supplementation Program (DSP) both for nutritionally at risk pregnant women and 6-23 months children. Their DSP will target pregnant and 6-23 months old not covered by the NNCs DSP.

 The remainder of the funds will cover nutrition sensitive agriculture and support to PPAN which are mostly capability building and institutional strengthening activities. Creation of permanent nutrition plantilla position though included in the LGUs Devolution Transition Plan (DTP) was not covered in the 2022 AIP but can still be prioritized once the DTP and the subsequent increase in National Tax Allocation (NTAs) is adjusted and approved.

The 2022 AIP is already in the second reading in the local sangunian but Health, Nutrition and Sanitation Committee chairperson Hon. Bernabeth C. Moran-Nerves vowed to make necessary adjustments in the 2022 AIP before it will deliberated on final reading and subsequent approval of the local sangunian. 

Meanwhile. Hon. Moran-Nerves said that along middle of next year they will formulate the municipality’s 2023-2025 MNAP.
