TACLOBAN CITY - The National Nutrition Council 8 (NNC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Agrarian Reform Field Office 8 (DARFO8) for the implementation of the Tutok Kainan-Dietary Supplementation Program (TK-DSP).
RNPC Dr Catalino P. Dotollo, Jr. represented the NNC8 while Regional Director Robert Anthony P. Yu for the Department of Agrarian Reform.
The purpose of the MOU is to provide technical and logistical support to the targeted provinces and its component cities and municipalities for the Dietary Supplementation Program (DSP) or Tutok Kainan in Eastern Visayas.
The Tutok Kainan seeks to improve the quality and quantity of food and nutrient intakes of beneficiaries by providing nutritious food commodities to pregnant women for 90 days and to children 6-23 months old for 180 days. Tutok Kainan” Supplementation Program envisions to help prevent stunting among children up to 23 months old.
The Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organization (ARBOs) will serve as conduits in the implementation of the program. The ARBOs will provide raw ingredients to the various targeted barangays. NNC chose ARBOs as the supplier for the Tutok Kainan for ease of delivery of ingredients as several members of ARBOs were within the covered areas of Tutok Kainan and to support the local market of the Tutok Kainan areas.
Present during the signing of the MOUs were Ms. Melecia M. Ong, Regional Agrarian Reform Officer together with the Agrarian Reform Program Officers of the provinces.
On the part of NNC 8 it was also attended by four (4) Provincial Nutrition Focal Point for Leyte, Samar, Eastern Samar, and Northern Samar.
Also present during the MOU signing were MNAO Joseph Glenn Abac, President of Leyte Federated Association of Nutrition Officers and Eastern Visayas Association of Barangay Nutrition Scholars (EVA BNS) Federated Treasurer BNS Riza Garcia of Tacloban City. #RNPC-CPD
