JAVEGAHILONGOS, Leyte - The National Nutrition Council 8 inks partnership with Javier Vegetable Growers Association (JaVeGA) in Javier Leyte.

JaVeGA is an Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organization (ARBOs) of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR). A Marketing Agreement (MA) between the two was signed and signals the start of the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program (TK-DSP) for 6-23months old children and nutritionally-at-risk pregnant women.

In signing the MA, NNC8 is represented by RNPC Dr. Catalino P. Dotollo, Jr while representing on behalf of Association is Their President Ms. Rowena C. Almadora.

Before signing of the MA, an orientation on Tutok Kainan-Dietary Supplementation Program was discussed. The salient features of agreement and mechanism of payment were likewise highlighted and discussed.

Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program aims to contribute to the prevention of stunting among children 0-23months old by improving the quality and quantity of food and nutrient intakes and utilization of related Early Childhood Care and Development in the First 1000 Days (ECCD F1KD) services among children 6-23months old children and nutritionally-at-risk pregnant women in the target Tutok Kainan program areas.

As agreed in the Marketing Agreement, JaVeGA as an Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) will served as the suppliers for the raw ingredients to be used in preparing hot meals for the target beneficiaries. Said ARBO will cover and supply raw commodities to the municipalities of Abuyog, Macarthur, Javier, Mayorga, La Paz and Tolosa, all in Leyte province.

Present and witnessing during the signing of the MA were PNFP assigned in Leyte Ms. Annabel B. Limbagan, Ms. Margie Sevillano, Association Auditor , Percival Maballo and Ellen G. Dico, Agrarian Reform Program Officer 1 and OIC- CARPO respectively and is representing DAR, Municipal Health Officer Dr. Alne Shayne Sangrano-Cupido, MNAO Mary Jane Culaba-Abueva representing health and nutrition office.

The signing was held at the Conference Room of the Bagsakan Center in Javier,Leyte.

The TK DSP is aimed at reducing malnutrition prevalence particularly wasting and stunting but will also help farmers gain income and in turn provide food for their respective family. #RNPC-CPD
