TACLOBAN CITY - The National Nutrition Council initiated a consultative workshop for the Development of the Operation Timbang Plus (OPT Plus) Manual of Operations (MOP) and Data Quality Check (DQC) for Integration in the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) Pro.
The workshop was commissioned to the University of the Philippines-Los Banos and funded by the UNICEF-KOICA.
The workshop was participated by the Provincial/City/Municipal Nutrition Action Officers, Rural Health Midwives (RHMs), Barangay Kagawad, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) representative, Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs), and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs).
All the participants are coming from the UNICEF-KOICA assisted LGUs of Samar and North Samar provinces.
RHM, BNS and BHW from Tacloban City also participated in the local consultative workshop as preparation of the piloting of the MOP and revised Implement Guidelines (IG) in the city.
The output of the consultative workshop of various groups of implementers and users will serve as inputs to the draft e-OPT MOP, revised IG and Data Quality Check (DQC) protocols.
The 2-day workshop hopes to gather suggestions and recommendations from the field implementers.
Meanwhile, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Dr. Catalino P. Dotollo, Jr. sets the tone of the workshop by giving his welcome and opening message. He emphasized that quality, accurate and timely data is important so appropriate nutrition interventions can be effectively and efficiently planned.
It would guide decision and policy makers plan programs, projects and activities (PPAs) in nutrition that are evidenced-base, he added.Also present during the workshop are UNICEF staff and NNC 8 Provincial Nutrition Focal Point assigned in Samar and North Samar. RNPC-CPD
