PALO, Leyte - As the implementation of the National Nutrition Council’s (NNC) Tutok Kainan - Dietary Supplementation Program is set to begin, the Provincial Nutrition Focal Point (PNFP) of Northern Samar, Mr. Ramel Bandibas, has paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Norman Sabdao of San Miguel, Leyte.
Together with Ms. Maria Lorelie Brazil, its newly-appointed Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO), were able to discuss and revisit the signed Memorandum of Understanding between the NNC and the local government unit.
According to Mayor Sabdao, the LGU will give their full support to the TKDSP implementation and pledged to comply with the necessary funding for the purchase of needed materials in the food storage facility for raw commodities.
In addition, the Hon. Mayor extended his gratitude to the National Nutrition Council for looking up a wholistic supplementation program that covers 180 days for 6-23months old Children.
After the fruitful and meaningful discussion, Mayor Sabdao, Dr. Macario A. Felicen II, a DOH doctor to the barrio; MNAO Brazil; and PNFP Bandibas headed to Barangay Nutrition Scholars and Barangay Captains' meeting to discuss matters on Health and Nutrition.
Presided by the mayor, the No Smoking Ordinance of the Municipality has been emphasized.
The strict implementation of the "No Smoking" in Public Places is an effort made by the Department of Health and the Local Government Unit to avoid health issues such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Afterwards, MNAO Brazil presented the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program and discussed the roles and responsibilities of BNSs and the Barangay Chairperson covered barangays.
Lastly, PNFP Bandibas did the actual hands-on training orientation on how to use the new 2022 eOPT tool for all BNS, and asked the support of all Barangay Nutrition Committee Chairperson to let Barangay Nutrition Scholars have access to Barangay-owned computers and laptops to provide accurate nutrition data and analysis using the e-OPT tool. #PNFP-ROB
