PALO, Leyte - The city of Catbalogan in Samar province has recently unveiled its nutrition office logo.

It was spearheaded by no less than city mayor Hon. Dexter Uy. Others in attendance were all the city Sanguniang Panglunsod, city department heads, employees and staff of both city health and nutrition offices and some media partners.

In the logo is a thin gray line (see picture below) that encompassed everything constitute to the reminder that the vision of the city nutrition office of Catbalogan will never be impossible if what the gray means: neutrality, intelligence, technology, and modesty.

The 3-person icon at the upper middle portion of the logo is a representation of healthy people of Catbalogan City. The green person icon means healthy Catbaloganons, orange symbolizes leading the virtue of good governance while the color apple green person icon means the city is being manned by dedicated health and nutrition workforce.

A food icon enclosed in green circle symbolizes the entirely commitment to educate continuously people of Catbalogan the significance of good nutrition in the attainment of optimum quality of life of it’s people.

The icon of a boy and a girl with height board enclosed in a circle of yellow boarder represents the undying hope and d dedication that stunting rates in Catbalogan City will continue to decline and will one day be totally alleviated.

Finally, the icon of woman and child enclosed in a pink boarder represents women empowerment. The symbol shows the exemplary enthusiasm to continuously impel the first 1000 days (F1KD) programs.

In his inspirational message NNC 8 Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Dr. Catalino P. Dotollo. Jr., also gave his personal meaning of the icons. According to him the gray color signifies gray infrastructure- meaning developing infrastructure on the physical and mental growth of a child.

He further says that the 3-person icon is also a symbol of healthy and nutritionally nourished Catbaloganons run by good nutrition leadership and governance and being served by competent and dedicated health and nutrition workforce.

While the food icon enclosed in green circle means the government efforts to attain food sufficiency and security. It means there should be a continued investment in terms of nutrition sensitive agriculture.

This is a way to provide food on top of the table of each Catbaloganons family to answer the problems of hunger and subsequently end malnutrition of alll forms. Keeping the people with good nutrition ensures the attainment of optimum quality of life of its people.

A boy and a girl icon with height board signifies the effort of the city to cover all children below 5 years old in its Operation Timbang (OPT). OPT is a tool if done accurately and timely will have a clear picture of its stunting prevalence. The CNC of Catbalogan is serious in lowering down their stunting prevalence.

True enough, the mother-child icon enclosed in pink boarder according to Dr. Dotollo is making all mothers to be empowered enough to take care of the children below 5 years old and their commitment to avail of the services in the first 1000 days of life.

With the unveiling of its City Nutrition Office logo, it will solidify complementation of national and local initiatives to fight all forms of malnutrition particularly stunting. #RNPC-CPD
