The 2022 Barangay Nutrition Scholars' Day in Region 8, spearheaded by the Eastern Visayas Association of Barangay Nutrition Scholars, has successfully concluded on July 28, 2022 via the Zoom App. With outstanding speakers coming from the National Nutrition Council and UNICEF Philippines, the said activity was successfully held and virtually participated in by more than 100 BNSs.
EVA-BNS President, Mr. Gaspar P. Misagal, welcomed the participants of the activity and expressed his gratitude towards the BNSs for their continued support and commitment in battling malnutrition in the region. The Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, Dr. Catalino P. Dotollo Jr., in his inspirational message, called for strengthened nutrition interventions and solidarity towards nutrition improvement as the country shifts towards living in the new normal.
Among the discussants were Planning Officer II, Mr. Jose Raphael S. Sanchez of NNC, who further elucidated on the BNS Program and the Roles and Functions of the BNSs during Nutrition in Emergencies. Meanwhile, Atty. Christine M. De Guzman of UNICEF Philippines discussed Executive Order 51, or the Philippine Milk Code.
To formally close the event, EVA-BNS Vice President, Mr. Ceasar Cenera, gave his heartfelt thanks to the BNSs for their active participation in the event and for their fervent delivery of nutrition services.
