PALO, Leyte – The National Nutrition Council 8 has conducted a general orientation on Nutrition in Emergencies (NIEm) to members of the Municipal Nutrition Committee and to the Barangay Nutrition Scholars of Carigara, Leye.
RNPC Dr. Catalino P. Dotollo, Jr. led the activity, with DMO II Ramel O. Bandibas and DMO II Annabel B. Limbagan.
The 2- day orientation include topics on the following: Common Terminologies, The Philippine Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Framework and Cluster Approach and the Nutrition Cluster, Nutrition in Emergencies Interventions, Nutrition during Pandemics, Importance of Nutrition in Emergencies, and Minimum Service Package in Nutrition.
DMO Ramel O. Bandibas introduced the overview NIEm planning using the 4 thematic areas. The actual planning will be conducted on site later. Afterwhich, it will be critiqued and finalized. The next step will be the integration to the DRRM-H and to the MDRR Plan. It will be endorsed by the MNC.
The final step will be adoption and integrating it to the Comprehensive Development Plan of the municipality.
The orientation was an opportunity to advocate to the Budget Officer (BO) and Municipal Disaster and Risk Reduction Officer (MDRRO) to prioritize budget allocation in the DRRM funds and other sectoral sources. The MBO and MDRRMO vowed to prioritize it in their nutrition investments as it is also requirement by other regulatory agencies. #RNPC-CPD
