NAVAL, Biliran – The Eastern Visayas Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET), composed of NNC 8 staff, DMO II Thaiza Mithel Cajigas, PDO I Evelyn Ramos, and Agrarian Reform Program Technologist of DAR RO8, Mr. Adrian Badana, was welcomed by the Provincial Nutrition Action Officer, Dr. Edgar Veloso (not pictured), and District Nutrition Program Coordinator, Mr. Rio Rosales, for the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI Pro).

Also present during this activity were PHO staff and representatives from the Provincial Budget Office.

The MELLPI Pro has been the monitoring tool used by NNC to monitor the progress of PPAN implementation at the local level since the 1980s and has been updated based on the PPAN for the period. It will produce a reliable and meaningful assessment of accomplishments, progress toward national and global standards, and achievement of desired nutritional outcomes for both local governments and nutrition workers.

During the feedback meeting, the RNET members elaborated their findings to the Provincial Nutrition Committee of Biliran based on the desk review of required documents for evaluation encompassing all six dimensions in the tool, namely: Vision-Mission, Nutrition Policies, Governance, LNC Management, Nutrition Service Delivery, and Change in Nutritional Status. The outcome discussion also included good practices implemented or initiated, issues and problems, and local initiatives implemented in each dimension.

To conclude the said activity, the province of Biliran openly accepted the recommendations of the RNET and pledged to further strengthen their multi-sectoral interventions to improve the nutrition situation in their LGU. #DMOII-TMDC
