PALO, Leyte - The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Dulag funded two batches of 2023-2025 Barangay Nutrition Action Plan (BNAP) formulation in all its barangays. The workshop was done simultaneously in two separate venues.
The two separate batches were facilitated by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) 8 official and staff. To save funds, the workshop was conducted in Dulag, Leyte instead of the usual hotel. The workshop was attended by Punong Barangays, Kagawad on Health, Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs), Barangay Secretary or Treasurer and Sanguniang Kabataan (SK) chairpersons.
The above also serves as core planning team and Barangay Nutrition Council members.
As in the usual BNAP workshop NNC 8 Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Dr. Catalino P. Dotollo, Jr. requires all barangays to draft and print their respective BNAPs.
Instead of the usual re- entry planning, ways forward were done to outline what are the next steps to be done by the core planning teams. This would include finalization of the plan, legislation through barangay resolution and incorporating it in the 2023 Annual Investment Program (AIP) which will be the basis of the approval of their annual budgets.
All the punong barangays together with the rest of team was so happy specially on how and where to gets its funding from their National Tax Allocations (NTAs).
With the 3-day formulation workshop, the core planning teams of the BNC learned a lot in terms of looking for fund sources sources.
The challenge though is on the implementation of the BNAPs.
What also facilitated the success of the said workshop was the active participation and initiative of the full time Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO) and a full time Nutrition Officer (NO) I. It really pays to have a full-time nutrition plantilla positions. #RNPC-CPD
