PALO, Leyte - The National Evaluation Team lead by Mr. Daniel Salunga from the Nutrition Surveillance Division (NSD) of the National Nutrition Council Central Office (NNC CO), alongside Prof. Leila Africa, professor from UP Los Banos and UNICEF Information Management (IM) Consultant, Gabriel Tubigon evaluated the Regional 8 Contender Ms. Lanie Ancheta in Brgy. Cabunga-an, Tarangnan Samar.

Ms. Ancheta is a veteran Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) with 11 years of experience. In her interview with the NET team, she talked about her experience as a BNS and how it has affected her deeply.

Vice Mayor Arnel Tan of Tarangnan Municipality and Brgy. Captain Ronaldo Cabello also gave their welcoming remarks for the team. This marks the first opportunity for Region 8 to have a BNS contender in the national MELLPI validation. Ms. Ancheta would be one of the many BNSs across the different regions who would be vying for the award.

Aside Ms. Ancheta, the region has four local nutrition focal points (LNFPs) who were able to place as a national contender namely, Provincial Nutrition Action Officer (PNAO) Cynthia Palileo of Samar, Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO) Edward Lora of Hilongos, and City Nutrition Program Coordinator (CNPC) Michelle Siega of Maasin City. #DMOII-IFD
