PMNP meetingPALO, Leyte - First hour on the second day of the Philippine Multi- sectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP) Regional Technical Session (RTS) was on Local Nutrition Action Plan LNAP) updates of the target municipalities.

One of the major and priority activity of the project is the formulation of LNAP among LGUs.

Dr. Catalino P. Dotollo, Jr., Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator (RNPC), oriented the participants of the RTS on the latest guidelines on 2023-2025 LNAP.

Said LNAP guidelines in anchored on the successor 2023-2028 Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN).

The PPAN is integrated in the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028. Subsequently, the LNAP is integrated in the respective Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP) for province, Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) for cities and municipalities and Barangay Development Plan (BDP) for barangays.

Moreover, once LNAP is put in those administrative level plans it will be then endorsed for integration in their respective Annual Investment Programs (AIP). This is done to ensure that the programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) in the LNAP will give priority in the budget allocation.

Dr. Dotollo urged the Provincial DOH Officer (PDOHO) and Development Management Officers (DMOs) present to advised LGUs to put or allocate Special Program Appropriation (SPA) in their annual budget. This is done so that unfunded activities in the LNAP can be charged to SPA funds. A project proposal for nutrition will then be submitted to the LCEs for approval.

Furthermore, Dr. Dotollo updated the National and Regional Project Management Office, the World Bank representative and the PDOHO present that covered LGUs of the PMNP are already done with their 2023-2025 LNAP and are now for endorsement to their respective legislative body.

The plan will then be integrated in the AIPs. There just few LGUs who did not on the scheduled 2023-2025 LNAP formulation. The last leg for the said formulation workshop will be on December 21-23, 2022.

He said that he will inform the PDOHO of the municipalities who were not able to attend.

After the LNAP guidelines was discussed and updated of the status of LNAP formulation, he urged all of them to be one of the spoons in their fight to end all forms of malnutrition, poverty, and hunger in the region.

He then let the participants chant the latest NNC battle cry “Nutrisyong Sapat Para Sa Lahat”. #RNPC-CPD
