UNICEF activitiesPALO, Leyte – Dr. Catalino P. Dotollo, Jr., Regional Program Nutrition Coordinator of NNC-Region 8 joined two major UNICEF initiated activities last December in Manila.

The first activity was the Project Closing Ceremony of the UNICEF-KOICA funded Integrated Nutrition and Health Actions in the First 1000 Days for the year 2018-2022.

The Republic of Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and UNICEF implemented the above partnership program in the three focus provinces of Samar, Northern Samar, and Zamboanga del Norte (ZdN).

The activity was attended by Korean dignitaries, KOICA officials and staff, UNICEF officials and staff, DOH and NNC officials including Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, Local Chief Executives of the 3 proponent areas. Importantly it was attended by local nutrition committees through their health and nutrition workers.

Meanwhile, a day after the above event, another activity was conducted on Activity After Review (AAR) on Typhoon Odette.

The activity was specially focus on Southern Leyte in Region VIII and Caraga Region. The areas in these two regions were hardly hit by Typhoon Odette.

The activity draw experiences in the field as far as nutrition response is concern. The areas shared their experiences both good and challenging one. After which ways forward was design to continue protecting the lives of the vulnerable sectors of our society, the mothers, and their born and unborn children. #RNPC-CPD.
