Hilongos MayorPALO, Leyte - As the National Nutrition Council Region 8 opened the new year, Dr. Catalino Dotollo, Jr., the Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, conducted a courtesy call and NEOtrition orientation to two municipal mayors of Leyte province.


Inopacan, Leyte Mayor Hon. Rogelio Dotollo-Pua Jr. and Hilongos, Leyte Mayor Manuel Villahermosa were the subject of the courtesy visit and NEOtrition orientation by the RNPC.

Hilongos Mayor Lenlen as he is fondly called welcomed and thanked the RNPC for the full support extended to the municipality.

On the other hand, the RNPC congratulated the LCE for bagging 2021 Green Banner Seal of Compliance (GBSC) for nutrition and the Regional Outstanding Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO) for MNAO Edward F. Lora.

Mayor Villahermosa boosted the newly renovated and expanded Municipal Nutrition Office to serve the nutritional needs of Hilongosnons.

Meanwhile, Inopacan Mayor Jojo as he is also fondly called is thankful or the visit of the RNPC.

He told the RNPC that he really waited the latter’s visit as more of his constituents relayed NNC 8 support to the municipality.

The mayor is a namesake of the RNPC of his maternal side Dotollo and a distant relative as well.

The RNPC oriented the mayor about nutrition program through the NEOtrition guide. The mayor vowed to also establish a separate a Municipal Nutrition Office similar to that of his neighboring towns of Hindang and Hilongos.

He also vowed to update the municipality’s Devolution Transition Plan (DTP) to include creation of permanent nutrition plantilla position.

Both municipalities are recipient of NNC’s Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program, phase 3 and 5. The RNPC explained that phase 3 is a feeding program for 6-23 months children for 180 feeding days while phase 5 is for nutritionally at risk (NAR) pregnant women for 90 feeding days.

He told the two mayors that the TK is not alone program but should be implemented with other comments such as home backyard gardening, nutrition education classes, livelihood projects, water and sanitation and other nutrition specific and sensitive programs.

Moreover, the municipalities are also recipient of the World Bank loan project on Philippine Multi-sectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP). #RNPC-CPD
