webby awarding 2015The Webby Awards is NNC’s internal awarding system to recognize outstanding performance in promoting good nutrition through the use of the Internet and social networking media. With the current trends that are brought about by technology in our modern world, good nutrition can now be promoted through the worldwideweb. This year, on the occasion of NNC’s 41st Anniversary, outstanding performers in the maintenance of NNC webpages and official NNC facebook accounts in 2014 shall be recognized.

Webby Awards Board of Judges and Chair Assistant Secretary of Health and Executive Director Maria-Bernardita T. Flores, Ms. Carol dela Cruz of KMITS-DOH and Ms. Eldeliza V. Guilleno of DA-ICTS conferred the following awards: Best Website Article, Most Interactive Webpage and Social Media Accounts, Most Syndicated Webpage and Social Media Account and the highest and most prestigious award, the Best Webpage and Social Media Account.

dr llacuna and dr balboaThe National Nutrition Council Secretariat is holding its 2nd NNC Management Conference this week, 22-26 June at the NNC Board Room. The 2nd ManCon is attended by the members of the Internal Management Committee, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinators with their respective Nutrition Officers III. One of the 2nd ManCon highlights is the formal welcome of DOH Bicol Regional Director Dr. Emilia P. Monicimpo and DOH CARAGA OIC Director Dr. Jose R. Llacuna to the NNC family. Dr. Monicimpo will serve as concurrently as OIC for NNC Bicol and Dr. Llacuna as concurrent OIC for NNC CARAGA. A brief orientation on NNC operations and financial management was given following the turn-over.

co nnc awards long bns nationwideAmong the highlights of the recently concluded 3rd National Conference of Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) was the conferment of the Long-serving Award to BNSs who have served their communities for at least 30 years as of 2014. A total of 304 BNSs qualified for the award and were each presented with a certificate of appreciation and cash incentive. Of the 39 longest-serving BNSs awarded for 36 years of service, Ms. Generosa P. Cabrestante of Palawan was the eldest at 82 years of age. She was followed by Elsa C. Pacurib of Laguna, 77 years old, and Salvacion L. Cariño of Zambales, and Teodora N. Rocha of Mabalacat City, both 75 years old.
