Ms. Milagros Elisa V. Federizo, the Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator (RNPC) of the National Capital Region, was the recipient of the “Nutritionist-Dietitian of the Year” Award conferred by the Nutritionist-Dietitians’ Association of the Philippines (NDAP) during the 57th Annual Convention held last March 1-2 at the Waterfront Hotel in Lahug, Cebu City. NDAP is the accredited professional organization for Nutritionist-Dietitians by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
As indicated in the plaque of recognition awarded to RNPC Federizo, she was chosen to be the ND of the Year “for her utmost competence as a nutritionist-dietitian in public health showing the positive impact of nutrition in local governance; her scholarship, creativity and productivity at work, continuing education activities, support and services to NDAP and other organizations, exemplary public service and professional accomplishments that earned various awards, citations and recognition has merited a fitting tribute from her peers and colleagues”.
Mila, as she is fondly called by her peers, is a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics (BSND) graduate from Centro Escolar University with a Master in Public Health (MPH) degree from the University of the Philippines-Manila. She has a wide experience in public health nutrition particularly in program planning and management, coordination and linkage-building. She used to be the Nutrition Program Coordinator of the Municipality of Pateros for sixteen years prior to her transfer to the National Nutrition Council (NNC) in 2003. She is also a part-time Lecturer at the School of Nutrition and Hospitality Management (SNHM) in Centro Escolar University in Mendiola, Manila since 1995.
With her notable accomplishments and her commitment and willingness to serve, she has also been the recipient of several awards such as the 2002 PAN Fellow for Community Nutrition given by the Philippine Association of Nutrition (PAN); 2002 Distinguished Alumna of CEU-SNHM and the 2005 Outstanding Teacher awarded also by the same university.
