In line with the celebration of Womens’ Month, the Local Government of Quezon City through the Office of the Vice Mayor launched its very first breastfeeding station located at the Inner Ground floor of Legislative Building, Quezon City Hall on 13 March 2012.
The ribbon-cutting and posting of the “Breastfeeding Welcome Here” Decal was led by Mayor Herbert Bautista and Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte together with DOH Representative Usec. Teodoro Herbosa, NNC-NCR RNPC Milagros Elisa Federizo, QC Nutrition Action Officer Dr. Antonieta Inumerable, City Councilors Doray Delarmente, Aly Medalla and Francisco Calalay.
The breastfeeding station is adequately provided with refrigerator, lavatory, television, air-conditioning unit, couch and IEC materials that make the breastfeeding station a comfortable and clean place for clients and city hall female employees who are breastfeeding.
The QC nutritionists led by Ms. Marivic Perlada and trained breastfeeding peer counselors will conduct Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) lectures for mothers every month at the breastfeeding station.
