January 27, 2014 - The Regional Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholars of the National Capital Region had their first meeting for the year 2014 at Poblacion Health Center in Makati City. At the meeting, the officers and board members of the Federation reviewed their 2013 accomplishments and planned their activities for 2014.
This year, the Federation will continue to hold their annual activities like the BNS Forum, Team Building, Lakbay-aral (Learning Visit), and the BNS Regional Conference. The Federation officers and board members firmly believe that the said activities will continue to empower the BNSs with new knowledge and skills that will help them be more efficient and effective in their work as they serve their respective communities.
The Federation also plans to assist its member BNSs who are in need by providing medical or burial assistance. To realize this objective, members of the Federation are encouraged to pay their annual dues, the proceeds of which will also be used in conducting activities that will benefit the BNSs in Metro Manila.
The Federation also commits to actively promote good nutrition by widely disseminating the Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos (NGF) in their communities and the importance of ensuring good nutrition during the first 1,000 days of the child.
“The strength of the regional federation depends largely on the active support and cooperation of its members”, says Federation President Concepcion “Ching” C. Benosa. “Pagtulungan natin mapalakas ang ating samahan para sa kapakanan din nating mga BNSs ng Metro Manila”, she added.
The regional federation is optimistic that with the support of the National Nutrition Council-NCR under the leadership of Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Mila V. Federizo and the local government units, all their planned activities in 2014 will be accomplished.
