Young runners from the sixteen (16) Schools Division Offices (SDOs) of the National Capital Region participated in the marathon challenge.
Celebrity icon, Anne Curtis, led the runners of the marathon relay. She gave a message of support and jumpstarted the race and passed on the baton to the school children competing in the marathon relay. Our country’s official time for 2013 is 2:25:29.
To show support to the event and the call for child survival, NNC-NCR Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Milagros Elisa V. Federizo graced the event and delivered a message of support. In her message, RNPC Federizo explained the importance of proper health and nutrition in emergencies and how it can impact the survival of children. “This Race for Survival symbolically represents the need to act now, to collectively work together in ensuring that the children’s right to good health and nutrition is safeguarded especially during disaster and emergencies”, RNPC Federizo explained.
