The National Nutrition Council of the National Capital Region (NNC-NCR) participated in the two-day event of the 2015 Philippine Generics Summit of the Department of Health with the theme “Kasama ako! Sa pagsusulong ng Generics! Lahat ay may responsibilidad.” on September 29-30, 2015 at the SM Megamall Activity Center, Mandaluyong City. More than 200 pharmacists, medical doctors and other health workers and stakeholders from the 17 LGUs of Metro Manila attended the event.
On the first day of the Summit, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Milagros Elisa V. Federizo attended the Opening Program. NNC-NCR staff distributed 10 Kumainments flyers, refrigerator magnets, foldable fans and Pinggang Pinoy brochure as a strategy to promote and advocate good nutrition. On the second day, Nutrition Officer III Emerenciana L. Francia gave a short lecture on the 10 Kumainments: Para sa Sigla at Lakas ng Buhay. Undersecretary of Health Dr. Enrique A. Tayag together with Slimmers World led the fitness exercise to encourage participants to be physically active. Also included in the two-day summit were lectures on drug price watch, antibiotic resistance, quality assurance of generic medicines and role of pharmacists in increasing public awareness and usage of generic medicines.
Through the Generics Summit, participants were able to know more about the Complete Treatment Pack (ComPack) Program of the DOH that aims to ensure that Filipinos have access to available and affordable quality generic medicines. (TAR/MEVF/NNCNCR)
