NNC-NCR conducted its Regional Launch of the Saktong Iodine sa Asin Seal on September 28, 2015 at the Berjaya Hotel, Makati City. The adequately-iodized salt quality seal dubbed as “Saktong Iodine sa Asin” is developed mainly to strengthen and revitalize the exisiting Diamond Sangkap Pinoy Seal (DSPS) used in the labels of iodized salt. The new adequately-iodized salt seal aims to increase awareness and use of adequately-iodized salt in households and point of purchase. The quality seal serves as guide to consumers in identifying and purchasing adequately-iodized salt and reassures them that the product is compliant with the national standards prescribed in RA 8172, also known as the Act on Salt Iodization Nationwide or ASIN Law.
Along with the launch was the conduct of the 1st joint meeting of the Regional Technical Working Group on the Salt Iodization Program (RTWG-SIP) and the Local Bantay Asin Task Force (LBATF).
