The National Nutrition Council at the National Capital Region in partnership with the regional media group, Nutrition Communication Resource Group – NCR (NCR2), launches today the Regional Webby Awards to encourage metro cities to promote good nutrition through social media.
The NCR Regional Webby Awards is an offshoot of the National Nutrition Council’s Webby Awards, an annual event that started in 2013. It aims to recognize exceptional performance in the management of the NNC website, regional webpages and official social media accounts.
NCR-NCR and NCR2 have been advocating among local government units to actively promote good nutrition through the official social media account of their local nutrition committees. To date, 14 out of 17 LGUs or 82% have their official social media account which they use to post nutrition information and activities of their respective local nutrition committees to raise the public’s nutrition awareness.
The NCR Regional Webby Awards is envisioned to motivate Metro Manila LNCs to actively promote good nutrition and inspire others to do something to mitigate hunger and malnutrition by sharing nutrition updates and activities through their social media account. It also aims to encourage greater participation from the local nutrition program coordinators in writing nutrition news and feature articles for the NNC-NCR webpage.
The contest is open to all city and municipal nutrition committees and members of the City/District Nutrition Program Coordinators’ Association of Metro Manila, Inc. The Regional Webby Awards will have three categories: Best LNC Social Media Account, Best News Article, and Best Feature Article.
The details and mechanics of the awards will be released through the NNC – NCR official social media account. The winners will be announced and recognized during the Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony on August 2016. (ELF/MEVF/NNCNCR)
