The Nutrition Action Officers (NAOs) play an important role in the planning and management of local nutrition programs anchored on the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN).  The NAO assists the Mayor who chairs the city/municipal nutrition committee by attending to the day-to-day management and coordinative needs of the local PPAN.

President – elect Dr. Benjamin M. Yson expressed his commitment to serve the Association well with the support of the other officers and board members.  On behalf of his fellow NAOs, Dr. Yson reiterated his full support to the implementation of the PPAN.  “As members of the ANAO- NCR, we will do our part to ensure that nutrition programs are in place at the local level and are being implemented well to bring about nutrition improvement,” Dr.Yson said.

The new set of officers and board members will take their oath of office on October 19, 2016. After the oath taking, a meeting will be held on the same date to plan strategically the projects and activities of the Association for CY 2017-2019.

It was in 2010 when the National Nutrition Council-NCR took the initiative in organizing the NAOs in Metro Manila by convening them in a meeting for an election. Former Mandaluyong CNAO and now City Mayor Carmelita “Menchie” A. Abalos became their first President. The Metro Manila NAOs officially named their organization as Association of Nutrition Action Officers of NCR or ANAO-NCR. The Association was registered in the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in 2012.
