Inspired by a quote from John Maxwell, “Teamwork makes the dream work”, the members of the Regional Nutrition Management Group (RNMG) went to Tagaytay City on 15 September 2017 for their Annual Team Building spearheaded by the National Nutrition Council-NCR. The RNMG, composed of representatives from member agencies of the inter-agency Regional Nutrition Committee, serves as the Technical Working Group on Nutrition in the region.
The team building exercises aimed at deepening the RNMG’s their camaraderie, strengthening their unity and bond of friendship, and making them appreciate more their value as a team in working for nutrition improvement in Metro Manila.
The group headed first to Pink Sisters and Tierra de Maria chapels to ask for God’s blessings and offer prayers of thanksgiving. After which, they went to Bali Village Hotel for their teambuilding exercises. They get to know each other better and appreciated their “uniqueness” as individuals and more so, their value as a team.
Through the various team building exercises and reflections, they realized that without cooperation, success will be elusive. Individual effort is important but group effort is more effective. Good communication is essential to a team as it minimizes conflict and misunderstandings. As what John Maxwell said, “Teamwork makes the dream work, but a vision becomes a nightmare when the leader has a big dream and a bad team”, good leadership and team work are vital ingredients for success. The team must have a common dream, and work in unity to make that dream work.
RNMG members who actively participated in the teambuilding activity were Ms. Maan Gatbonton (Nutrition Foundation of the Philippines), Ms. Alen Pabillo (DepEd-NCR), Ms. Gloria Ramat (Innerwheel Clubs of the Philippines), Ms. Marlene Navarro (Grace Family Helper Project), Ms. Melissa de Mesa (DSWD-NCR), and Ms. Beth Florendo (Rural Improvement Clubs of the Philippines). NPC Mila Federizo assisted by Nutrition Officer III Meren Francia, Administrative Aide (AA) VI Sarah Bautista and AA III Obet Leyva facilitated the activities. (ELF/NPC MEVF/NNC-NCR)
