The workshop was participated in by members of the inter-agency Regional Nutrition Management Group (RNMG) that serves as the technical working group of the Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC):  Ms. Melissa de Mesa (DSWD-NCR); Ms. Lucia Broño (PIA-NCR); Dr. Lucy Peregrina (DepED-NCR); Ms. Joyce dela Paz-Hilvano (POPCOM-NCR); Ms. Marlene Viray-Navarro (Grace Family Helper Project); Ms. Mary Anne Gatbonton (Nutrition Foundation of the Philippines); Dr. Shari Ludovina Sabalvaro (NCR Nutrition Communication Resource Group); and Ms. Olive del Rosario (Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholar of NCR, Inc.).  Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Milagros Elisa V. Federizo and Nutrition Officer III Emerenciana L. Francia facilitated the workshop while NO II Theresa A. Rivas, NO I Mary Agnes Beatrice R. Menorca and Administrative Aide VI Stephanie Joy D. Bactad provided secretariat

support.

The Policy Review is a yearly undertaking of the RNC aimed at assessing the resolutions issued by the RNC in the past three (3) years to determine whether objectives were attained, document learnings gained and provide recommendations on the challenges or issues encountered during implementation.  In 2014, two (2) resolutions were issued by the RNC on strengthening the RNC and creating the Regional Nutrition Cluster.  These resolutions became policy instruments of the local government units in passing related ordinances and resolutions and in program implementation.  The said resolutions were reviewed by the workshop participants based on the results of the quick survey done among regional directors/heads of RNC member agencies and client feedback, guided by the policy review guidelines.

After the policy review, the participants had series of workshop activities to formulate the RPAN 2017-2022.  They assessed the regional nutrition situation; identified goals, targets, guiding principles, thrusts, and programs to address the identified nutrition problems and challenges in the region; reviewed and enhanced the RNC’s vision, mission, and values; and identified the next steps to undertake to finalize the RPAN 2017-2022.

On November 8, 2017, NNC-NCR will convene the members of the RNMG/TWG for a post-workshop activity to polish and finalize the RPAN 2017-2022.  The final RPAN will be presented to the RNC for approval and will be launched during the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition 2017-2022 Dissemination Forum on December 5, 2017.  (ELF/MEVF/NNCNCR)
