The National Nutrition Council – NCR (NNC-NCR) recognizes the internet as an effective medium for nutrition promotion and advocacy. By publishing articles on the web, more people, locally and globally, will be aware of the efforts being done by the NNC-NCR in addressing the problem of hunger and malnutrition in Metro Manila.

To capacitate the regional office technical personnel on how to properly and effectively write web articles, a training on “Writing Press Release for Nutrition Promotion and Advocacy” was conducted by the NNC-NCR on December 19. The training was held at the DOH-NCRO Conference Room in Mandaluyong City as part of their training and development.

Resource speaker Mr. Carlo Suerte Felipe, a freelance writer and former news writer from the Manila Bulletin, taught the participants tips on writing articles for the web and press releases to be published in newspapers and newsletters for the promotion of regional nutrition activities.  He also gave practical exercises using the articles from the NNC-NCR webpage as examples.  He showed how to edit and improve articles for better reading and understanding of the readers.

Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Milagros Elisa Federizo hopes that the web articles posted on NNC-NCR’s official webpage will henceforth be more interesting and effective in promoting good nutrition and advocating support for the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition 2017-2022.  (TAR/NPC MEVF/NNC-NCR)
