BNS outreach pic editedThe Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) of NCR in partnership with the National Nutrition Council – NCR (NNC-NCR) annually conducts an outreach activity for the elderlies as one of their regular activities.  It is held every November, which started in 2015, to bring the Christmas spirit and joy to the elderly residents of their chosen institution.

For its third year, the BNS Federation decided to conduct the activity at Luwalhati ng Maynila Home for the Aged in Manila Boystown Complex, Marikina City. The activity was held last January 25, 2018 with the theme, “Love ko si Lolo, Love ko si Lola, Love you pa more!” participated in by 30 lolos and lolas

Head of Luwalhati ng Maynila Ms. Leonila Borja warmly welcomed the group. She thanked the officers and board members of the Federation and NNC-NCR personnel for sharing their time and blessings to their elderly residents.  “These lolos and lolas will be forever grateful and will remember this time of their lives.” she added.

In her message, NNC-NCR Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Ms. Milagros Elisa Federizo said that it is always a privilege to bring joy and delight to our elderlies.  She hoped that the group will be a blessing to the lolos and lolas

“You (lolos and lolas) are fortunate to reach such an old age.  God must have provided you more time and blessed you more because you have taken good care of your health in your younger years.  We are glad to be here to take care of you, give you love and joy even for just this day.” NPC Federizo said.

The group prepared a dance presentation and games for the elderlies to bring more fun to the activity.  Some lolos and lolas sang their favorite songs while another group called “Golden Dancers” performed a dance number.  Prizes were given to the winners and presenters.  After lunch, the BNSs distributed gift packs to the elderlies.  The Federation also donated diapers, clothes, ready to eat cereals, toiletries and other items for the use of the elderly residents in the institution.

The lolos and lolas enjoyed the whole activity and were very happy with the gifts they received.  At the end, the elderlies, with smiles on their faces, bid the BNSs goodbye while a lola sang a song entitled “Give Thanks”.  “Till we meet again, we love you!” were their parting words.
