CDNPC HMO picHealth is wealth. Health is the most important thing in every person’s life. We function properly and become more productive in our everyday activities when we are healthy.  However, many Filipinos are concerned of the high cost of medical care in the country.  Hospital and medical consultation fees may become too expensive without health insurance.

Cognizant of this problem, the previous set of officers of the City/District Nutrition Program Coordinators (C/DNPC) Association led by ex-officio Ms. Eileen Guevara started planning for the members to have health card from a reputable health maintenance organization (HMO) in 2017.  Since many of the nutritionists in the seventeen (17) local government units in NCR are not getting any younger, having a health card to support their health needs is essential.

The new set of officers of the C/DNPC Association under the leadership of President Femilina Tuazon plans to pursue this project in 2018 and facilitate enrollment of its members to an HMO for a health card.  This will promote health and overall wellness of the members as well as their dependents.  It also aims to encourage the members to seek regular medical check-ups not just for treatment but more so, to prevent the development of diseases.

After several product presentations, the Association was able to select an HMO that provides a good package of health coverage and benefits for a reasonable premium rate.

NNC-NCR Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Ms. Milagros Elisa Federizo also encouraged the members to avail the health card since it is not only financially smart but also beneficial to one’s health. It may look costly and “unneeded” at first, especially if you’re young and living a healthy lifestyle.  However, you will never know when you will encounter a medical emergency in your life.  But when the medical bills come, you will be glad that you have health insurance.

The Association targets to provide the health card to its members by March 2018.  (TAR/NPC MEVF/NNC-NCR)
