Social media has become the most common public form of communication. Social media websites and applications such as Facebook and Twitter allow users to talk and share information. Information or messages can be posted and shared through social media and can reach millions of audience in just a few seconds.
Realizing the power of social media, the NCR2 or the NCR Nutrition Communication Resource Group will tap social media in intensifying its nutrition advocacy and promotion. In a meeting held on February 12, 2015 at the Conference Room 2, DOH-NCR Office, the NCR2 mapped out its activities in 2015. To start off, the regional media group plans to have a wider reach of audience for its nutrition promotion via Twitter. Twitter is an online social networking service that enables users to send and read short 140-character messages called "tweets".
NCR2 Chair Mr. Marvin Capco explains that Twitter is an effective social marketing tool used worldwide. It is a cost-effective way to reach a wider audience and engage them in nutrition promotion through the process of “tweeting and retweeting”. To increase the ‘fanbase’ or followers of the NNC-NCR Twitter account, NCR2 will have a promotional raffle beginning March 2015. Mechanics of the raffle will be posted on the NNC-NCR official Facebook page and Twitter account soon. (TAR/MEVF/NNCNCR)
