The National Nutrition Council-NCR was among the agencies that participated in the DSWD-Run Pay-Out for Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program Beneficiaries held on April 30, 2015 at the Taguig City University Auditorium.
The NNC-NCR is a member of the Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), a conditional cash transfer program of the Philippine government under the Department of Social Welfare and Development. It aims to eradicate extreme poverty by investing in heath and education particularly in children 0–14 years old.
The event was spearheaded by the DSWD-NCR to create awareness among the 4Ps beneficiaries on the programs and services of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and partner agencies, provide beneficiaries medical and related services and give them the opportunity to share their experiences to inspire the other beneficiaries. Around 1,000 4Ps beneficiaries from the City of Taguig attended the event.
At the NNC-NCR booth, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Milagros Elisa V. Federizo together with Nutrition Officers Theresa Rivas and Bea Menorca distributed Ten Kumainments flyers, Gabay sa Wastong Nutrisyon para sa Pamilya comics, and foldable fans printed with Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos (NGF) as a strategy to promote and advocate good nutrition. NO II Rivas also gave a lecture-presentation on proper nutrition for the family emphasizing the Ten Kumainments and Pinggang Pinoy. The Ten Kumainments TV commercials were also shown as part of the nutrition lecture.
Promoting good nutrition is an important poverty alleviation strategy. Good nutrition empowers families, enabling them to be productive to ease poverty. (MABRM/MEVF/NNCNCR)
