The BNSs with the lolos and lolas during the interactive games. The Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) of NCR, Inc. has been conducting outreach activities for the elderly for four (4) years now with the theme “Love ko si Lolo, Love ko si Lola, Love you pa more!”.

The outreach activity enables the BNS Federation to share their blessings and love for the elderlies. In the past years, the group visited the Bahay Kalinga sa Valenzuela, GRACES Home for the Elderly, and Luwalhati ng Maynila to share their blessings, love and service to the dearest lolos and lolas.  This 2019, they visited San Lorenzo Ruiz Home for the Elderly (SLRHE) in Pasay City managed by the Little Sisters of the Poor.

The outreach activity was held on February 28, 2019 attended by the officers and board members of the Federation together with NNC-NCR Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator (RNPC) Mila Federizo, Nutrition Officer I Bea Menorca, and Administrative Aide IV Roberto Leyva.  It was participated in by 38 lolos and lolas of SLRHE.

In her opening message, RNPC Federizo greeted the participants and said that the BNS Federation and NNC-NCR are glad to be with them to share their blessings and love.  She wished that the lolos and lolas will enjoy the activities and gifts prepared by the BNSs.

The lolos and lolas enjoyed dancing, singing and playing games with the BNSs.  All of them won prizes that brought smiles to their faces. Some lolos and lolas even sang their favorite songs to entertain and to express their thanks to the visitors.  The donations and gifts brought by the BNSs from the various local government units in NCR and NNC-NCR were turned over to the sister in-charge of the facility for the use of the elderly residents and the SLRHE community.  The lolos and lolas sweetly smiled and thanked the BNSs as they leave the hall to have their lunch provided by the Federation.  The fund used for the conduct of the outreach was taken from the proceeds of the Raffle-for-a-Cause fund-raising event held on November 2018 during the 2018 Regional Conference of Barangay Nutrition Scholars.
