The newly elected officers and board members of the Association of Nutrition Action Officers of NCR, Inc. (ANAO-NCR) for CY 2020-2022 took their oath of office on March 5, 2020 before National Nutrition Council Executive Director Dr. Azucena M. Dayanghirang. The oathtaking took place at the Berjaya Hotel in Makati City.
NNC ED Dr. Dayanghirang congratulated the new set of officers and board members of the Association and acknowledged the support of the group particularly those who are always present during regional nutrition activities. She calls for the Association’s further assistance in scaling up nutrition in the region.
“We will make all local chief executives (LCE) in the national capital region (NCR) become nutrition champions. Be the nutrition advisor of your LCE and encourage them to invest in nutrition and in the First 1000 Days. Lastly, advocate for nutrition not only to LCEs but to all your constituents,” Dr. Dayanghirang said. She requested and encouraged the group to organize a regional ‘big bang’ event to show that NAOs in NCR are all supportive of nutrition.
The new set of officers and board members of the Association who took their oath was led by its President, Chef Melissa S. Oreta (Malabon City) together with Vice-President Dr. Pecos R. I. Camarines (Mandaluyong City), Secretary Dr. Rosalie M. Sto. Domingo (San Juan City), Assistant Secretary Ms. Marissa C. Almario (Pasig City), Assistant Treasurer Mrs. Josefina B. Ponce (Municipality of Pateros), Auditor Dr. Magdalena C. Maena (Muntinlupa City) and Public Relations Officer Councilor Julia B. Monroy (Navotas City). The board members present were: Dr. Marilyn Cleofe-Liwanag (Valenzuela City), Dr. Edgar N. Santos II (City of Manila), Mrs. Janet A. Olivarez (Parañaque City), Dr. Julio P. Javier II (Las Piñas City).
Treasurer Mrs. Julita S. Bernabe (Taguig City) and Board Members Mrs. Edna R. Malapitan (Caloocan City), Dr. Esperanza Anita N. Escano-Arias (Quezon City), Dr. Christy S. Sy (Marikina City), Dr. Bernard T. Sese (Makati City), and Dr. Cesar F. Encinares (Pasay City) were represented by their respective nutrition program coordinators during the oathtaking ceremony.
“We will ensure that nutrition will be scaled up in our respective LGUs and will work collectively as an Association to move the PPAN forward to prevent stunting in the region,” Chef Oreta said in her message after the oathtaking. (TAR/ELF/NPC MEVF/NNC-NCR)
