Smartphone photographyIt is a known fact that humans are visual creatures. As a result, pictures and images are commonly used to convey information in various forms of media especially on websites and social media platforms.

Social media such as Facebook has become crowded through the years due to the increasing number of users and businesses using it. With pictures and images, posts can draw more attention and engagement than just plain text.

To create eye-catching and engaging posts and good photos for news and feature articles, we need to utilize the tool always available to us, which is our smartphones.

As part of Training and Development, the National Nutrition Council – NCR (NNC-NCR) conducted a Training on Smartphone Photography 101 on September 30, 2020 to capacitate the group in taking photos for documentation of activities and for nutrition promotion and advocacy via online platforms.

Street photographer Mr. Joseph Tupaz taught the group the basics of photography and how to use the smartphone in producing good quality photos. The group had practical exercises wherein they applied the concepts and techniques discussed by Mr. Tupaz. Photos were then uploaded to the group chat specifically created for the training and these were commented on by Mr. Tupaz. He patiently guided the participants in discovering the many features of the smartphone camera and how to use them to produce photos that are captivating, informative, and engaging.

In her message, NNC-NCR Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Milagros Elisa V. Federizo expressed her optimism that the training was able to enhance the skills of NNC-NCR personnel in taking photos using smartphones, enabling them to create good quality photos for nutrition promotion and advocacy in social media and for  photo documentation of activities as well.

NNC-NCR team commits to produce quality photos using their smartphones and use them in creating engaging posts in social media to promote good nutrition among its target audiences. (TAR/NPC MEVF/NNC-NCR)
