Infographics DesignInfographic is one of the best tools to use in conveying information to people since we are visual creatures. People would rather look at an infographic than read a lengthy text containing the same content (Giang Trinh, 2015). It requires creativity to present valid data or information in the most visually pleasing way.

“Infographics can be great as part of presentations, newsletters or other research content. It keeps people’s interest by lending a storytelling and visual element to what can be sterile research.” - Caitlin McCabe, founder and CEO of Real Bullets Branding.

To improve the promotion of good nutrition in social media, the National Nutrition Council – NCR (NNC-NCR) conducted a webinar on Infographic Design 101 on November 27, 2020 via Zoom as part of its Training and Development Program.

Mr. Ace Aceron, Brand and Design Consultant of Conduent Philippines and Graphic Design Consultant of UNICEF Philippines, oriented the group on the basics in making infographics. He discussed the importance of colors, typography, layout, and spacing in graphic design. He also explained the qualities of a good infographic. Each participant was able to create an infographic which was critiqued by Mr. Aceron during the mini-workshop part of the webinar. He gave tips and recommendations on how to improve the participants’ outputs.

In her welcome and opening message, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Milagros Elisa V. Federizo emphasized the importance of presenting accurate nutrition facts and figures through infographics that could serve as nutrition promotion and advocacy materials.  She also challenged the team to maximize the use of social media in delivering correct nutrition messages through infographics.

NNC-NCR team committed to apply the learnings of this webinar and create informative, visually appealing social media cards in promoting good nutrition. (DKFV/NPC MEVF/NNCNCR)
