Save the Children in partnership with DepEd Caloocan Division Office and the Caloocan Health Department have joined efforts by conducting a Training of Trainers among school clinicians and focal persons in the eight districts of the division with the aim of capacitating the teachers to strengthen delivery of services in school health and nutrition program. The three-day training was conducted on May 4-6, 2015 in Ciudad Christhia Resort with three representatives per district as participants. These participants are expected to roll-out the training in their respective districts with classroom teachers as participants from each school of every district. Eight roll-out trainings had been identified which started last week of May and would end second week of July.
The topics discussed during the training include Nutrition for the School Age Children, Deworming, Micronutrient Supplementation, Nutrition Assessment, Oral Health, Management of Common Illnesses, First-Aid and Referral System. Recording and reporting and some other issues were also clarified during the training. The resource persons who discussed the topics were from the School Health and Nutrition Unit of the Division, the Caloocan Health Department and Ms. Meren Lagadia-Francia of National Nutrition Council-National Capital Region.
This partnership in enhancing the capabilities of teachers will help to strengthen the deliveries of services in school health and nutrition program.
