The Department of Social Welfare and Development in NCR (DSWD-NCR) Regional Director Vicente Gregorio B. Tomas together with the members of Regional Program Management Office (RPMO) had a virtual meeting with National Nutrition Council -NCR (NNC-NCR) Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Milagros Elisa V. Federizo on April 6, 2020.
The virtual meeting is part of the series of courtesy visits to the Regional Directors of NCR being conducted by the DSWD-NCR RPMO to ensure convergence of programs and services by all national government agencies involved in the implementation of Republic Act 11310 or the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) or Pantawid Pamilya. The main objective of the visit is to align the mandate of each agency to their respective roles in the direction of the 4Ps which is to uplift the level of well-being of the beneficiaries through convergence effort of various stakeholders.
RD Tomas acknowledged the selfless efforts of agencies involved in the Program including their partnership with NNC-NCR. "We value this a lot, hindi lang dahil may batas, kundi dahil na establish na ang magandang working relationship and friendship, like a Filipino soul who has a heart to help Filipino families. Ang makita natin na ang bawat poor family ay makatawid sa kahirapan ay nagiging inspirasyon natin at motivation to work hard", said RD Tomas.
NPC Federizo, on the other hand, thanked RD Tomas for acknowledging the participation of NNC-NCR in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program through the years as an active member of the Regional Advisory Committee (RAC). She reiterated the continued support of NNC-NCR in the implementation of the program. NNC-NCR will continue to disseminate policies on 4Ps including Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) resolutions to all LGUs and monitor their implementation, advocate for the inclusion of 4Ps beneficiaries as targets in the programs and projects in the local nutrition action plans which are anchored in the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) and help ensure that these programs are funded by local government units. In addition, the NNC-NCR will also propose to the Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) to issue a resolution enjoining LGUs to ensure that nutrition services are provided to 4Ps beneficiaries particularly during the first 1000 days of the child, and that the implementation of RA 11310 will also be included in the monitoring and evaluation of their LNAPs.
The fruitful meeting strengthened the partnership between DSWD-NCR and NNC-NCR in ensuring convergence effort for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program. Both agencies believe that the success of this program will ultimately contribute in the realization of Ambisyon 2040 which envisions having Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na Buhay by 2040.
