IMG 20150827 103111 - CopyAs one of the priority areas of the Shepherding Project of the Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) of NCR, Paranaque City was visited by Nutrition Officer III Emerenciana L. Francia of NNC-NCR and Ms. Marlene Viray-Navarro of Grace Family Helper Project and member of the Regional Nutrition Management Group (RNMG) on August 27, 2015. The Shepherding Project of the RNC aims to mentor and assist priority local government units in improving their nutrition program implementation and management. NOIII Francia and Ms. Navarro were warmly welcomed by Dr. Loreleigh S. Obed, the new Acting City Health Officer (CHO) of Paranaque City.


Being the newly designated Acting CHO and still learning the ropes of managing nutrition programs, Dr. Obed showed interest in the nutrition program management process and the roles of the members of the city nutrition committee, particularly that of the Chair, nutrition action officer (NAO) and the nutrition secretariat. She also expressed her appreciation of the important role the nutrition secretariat plays in coordinating the local nutrition programs and projects which are anchored on the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN). Also discussed during the visit were the findings and recommendations of the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) based on the results of the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) held in ParaƱaque City on April 22, 2015. NO III Francia and Ms. Navarro also stressed the importance of the timely submission of reports to the NNC-NCR office such as the Operation Timbang Plus (OPT) Results and the quarterly PPAN accomplishments among others.

Dr. Obed expressed her commitment to help make their City Nutrition Committee (CNC) active and functional and ensure that their nutrition secretariat will submit nutrition reports as timely, complete and accurate as possible. (ELF/MEVF/NNCNCR)
