NNC NCR Staff Meeting for April 2021 with a mini workshop to analyze what went well and what went wrong in 2020 and what could be done by the team to improve their performance and accomplishments in 2021The NNC-NCR committed to improve the team’s performance in 2021 during a workshop held as part of its staff meeting cum program implementation review held on April 26, 2021. The meeting was presided by Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Milagros Elisa V. Federizo and attended by all regional personnel.

As part of the meeting’s agenda, Nutrition Officer III Emerenciana Francia presented the region's accomplishments vis-à-vis the approved 2020 Work and Financial Plan (WFP) including the unplanned activities done in response to the needs of clients and stakeholders. She also presented the challenges encountered and corrective measures done by the team to ensure that all activities included in the WFP were done as effectively and efficiently as possible.

The team also conducted a mini workshop to analyze what went well and what went wrong in 2020 and what could be done by the team to improve their performance and accomplishments in 2021. Among those identified as facilitating factors were sustaining the open communication in the workplace, good working relationship with stakeholders, and the adaptiveness, dynamism, and creativity of the team in responding not only to the needs of the members of the team but to that of their clients and partners as well.  Another factor that contributed to the accomplishments of the team despite the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic is the persistence of the team to imbibe the NNC’s core values. This enabled them to overcome the difficulties of working from home and in other alternative working arrangements.

The NNC-NCR team also acknowledged their limitations and weaknesses. Deterring factors mentioned include having limited know-how in using application software for creating video and infographics for social media campaign, delayed issuances of instructions and guidelines resulting in changes in implementation schedule, and unsuccessful recruitment and selection of staff, among others. With these in mind, the team identified the corrective actions that they need to do to improve the individual and group performance in the remaining months of 2021.

RNPC Federizo commended the team for their accomplishments in 2020 which she considers to be a “not so normal year” in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. She acknowledged the stress and anxiety that the team experienced particularly during the start of the pandemic because no one was ready for COVID-19.  The good thing though, was that the team was able to cope, adapt and adjust in the new normal. She also hopes that the team will be able to work better together and be more productive in 2021.

"Sana ay magtuloy-tuloy ang ating teamwork this year and for the years to come. Sana ay kung paano natin nakikilala ang limitations ng isa’t isa ay mas ma-appreciate din natin ang strengths ng bawat isa. And we need to complement each other para mapunan kung anuman ang kulang sa bawat isa to make our team work for the best," RNPC Federizo said.

All the members of the NNC-NCR team value teamwork and consider it as the source of their strength and motivation. As public servants, we need to continually strive to deliver excellent performance in normal times or in the “new normal”, para sa ahensya at para sa bayan
