Federizo on behalf of RNC Chair Dr. Gloria J. Balboa held on February 17, 2022, the RNC and RNMG approved  RNC Resolution No. 2, Series of 2022, “Enjoining LGUs to Utilize the Compendium of Local Ordinances and Issuances on Nutrition and Submit Local Ordinances and Issuances in Support of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN)”.

The Compendium of Local Ordinances and Issuances on Nutrition is a project of the National Nutrition Council (NNC) in partnership with the Nutrition Officers Association of the Philippines (NAOPA), with support from Nutrition International and UNICEF Philippines.  It serves as a knowledge-sharing platform for LGUs to learn from initiatives of LGUs that have successfully harnessed the strength of policy instruments in scaling up nutrition.

The compendium is a compilation of local policies on nutrition which can be accessed online and a printed publication that can be accessed via the National Nutrition Council website (www.nnc.gov.ph). These local policies can be used by local governments as reference in issuing related policies and in the implementation of their local nutrition programs.

To date, 208 local ordinances and 45 executive orders from the submissions of provincial, city, and municipal local governments across the 17 regions of the Philippines have been uploaded in the online portal. While twenty (20) local ordinances have been selected to be part of the printed publication as these polices exhibited much success in improving the nutrition landscape in the implementing LGU.

The RNC encourages Metro Manila LGUs to issue local policies in support of the PPAN that can contribute to the reduction of stunting and all forms of malnutrition.  They are also encouraged to submit to the National Nutrition Council-NCR their local ordinances and issuances in support of the PPAN for uploading in the online portal. The Compendium is dynamic and will be updated progressively through the years to include more and new local ordinances and issuances.
