Meeting with NCR Nutrition Writers Guild held on March 17, 2022The National Nutrition Council – NCR (NNC-NCR) reorganized the Regional Nutrition Writers’ Guild through an online meeting held on March 17, 2022.

Thirty-three (33) nutritionist-dietitians (NDs) from the 16 cities and one (1) municipality in Metro Manila attended the meeting presided by NNC-NCR Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Milagros Elisa Federizo.

Participants were also capacitated in writing articles for the web. Mr. Jerome Carlo Paunan, Information Officer II of the Philippine Information Agency-NCR provided the participants with guideposts for writing news articles. RNPC Federizo and all technical staff of NNC-NCR also joined the workshop.

The NCR Nutrition Writers’ Guild was organized in 2014 to promote good nutrition and programs, projects, and activities aligned with the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) through web articles. Capacity building activities for the members such as meetings and writing workshops were conducted from 2014-2019.

However, only few members remain active and able to contribute articles especially during the pandemic. Hence, the NNC-NCR decided to reorganize the Guild to include NDs who are really interested in writing and will commit to the purpose of the Guild.

“As NDs, we really have to promote good nutrition as well as inform others of what we are doing in our respective local government units and an important way to do that is by publishing articles in the web,” RNPC Federizo said. She added, “Writing articles is not only for promotion but will also serve as an advocacy for others to be involved in our efforts toward nutrition improvement.”

Members of the Writers’ Guild are expected to become active contributing writers in the NNC-NCR webpage and in their respective local websites and newsletters.
