SUN Business Network Organizational MeetingThe National Nutrition Council – NCR (NNC-NCR) tapped businesses and private sectors to invest in nutrition during the regional SUN Business Network Organizational Meeting attended by 12 participants from nine (9) companies held virtually on April 21, 2022.

The meeting was presided by NNC-NCR Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator (RNPC) Ms. Milagros Elisa Federizo. During the meeting, Nutrition Officer III Emerenciana Francia discussed the current nutrition situation in the region. RNPC Federizo then presented the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2017-2022 and the Scaling Up Nutrition or SUN 3.0.

The Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement is a renewed effort to eliminate all forms of malnutrition, based on the principle that everyone has a right to food and good nutrition. The Movement encourages multisectoral and multi-stakeholders to work together to bring about an end to malnutrition.

RNPC Federizo encouraged the participants to join the SUN Movement Business Sector of NCR and help scale up the PPAN. The PPAN is the country’s framework in addressing malnutrition.

β€œWe need to scale up nutrition through collective action, allocate priority investments, leadership and governance, enhanced actions for accountability and sustainability, uptake of communities, and partnership within networks,” RNPC Federizo said.

She added, β€œThe children cannot wait. If we want our country to be a better nation for us all, kailangan po natin mag-invest sa nutrition. Invest in our children.”.

Part of the program was the generation of commitments from the Business Network and the selection of the Convenor. Ms. Corazon β€œZonito” Tamase, President of Natureearth Corp. volunteered to be the business network convenor.

β€œI am very optimistic that this program is going to take off especially with the technology we have today. We just have to use the platform and work together for us to succeed,” President Tamasa said in her message.
