The City/District Nutrition Program Coordinators (C/DNPCs) of Metro Manila (MM) Association Board of Directors adopted the Guidelines on the implementation of the Online Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) Counseling Project through a resolution during a meeting held on April 7, 2022.
All members of the Board of Directors from the 17 local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila unanimously approved the C/DNPC Association Resolution No. 1, s2022 entitled “Resolution Adopting the Guidelines on Online Infant and Young Child Feeding Counseling Project”.
The Online IYCF Counseling Project was launched on April 8, 2020 as part of the Association’s campaign in promoting proper IYCF practices amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. With the assistance of the National Nutrition Council – NCR, the Association helps pregnant women and mothers/caregivers in their breastfeeding concerns as well as on complementary feeding practices for children 6 months and above free of charge.
The guidelines serve as reference in the conduct of online IYCF counseling being done by the NCR Breastfeeding Friends or BFFs. The BFFs are members of the C/DNPC Association who are licensed Nutritionist-Dietitians trained on IYCF. They provide counseling not only on IYCF concerns but even on childcare practices. To date, there are 47 BFFs from the 17 local government units in Metro Manila.
